All the signs in this section conform to the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). Most health and safety signs - and particularly signs for the visually impaired can be broken down into four main types:

Braille and Tactile Information Signs
These braille and tactile signs orientate people within your location and are used the main internal signs that identify the main locations and include directories, maps and plans.

Braille and Tactile Direction signs
They direct people to specific destiinations using arrows and text. There are often multiple destinations signposted in one place and so care needs to be taken to ensure there is no confusion.

Braille and Tactile Identification / locations signs
These braille and tactile signs identify a place and are never used with an arrow: they are attached to the place they signpost and are what direction signs point to.

Safety, fire and other required signs
These Braille and Tactile signs are required by law and carry essential safety information. They give warnings of hazards, or safety information or details about fire fighting equipment.
